Configuring MathGPT.ai as an external tool in Blackboard
This guide walks you through installing MathGPT.ai in Blackboard using LTI 1.3 Dynamic Registration, then adding MathGPT activities to a course.
FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Step 1: Register the MathGPT.ai tool in Blackboard
- Navigate to System Admin > Integrations > LTI Tool Providers, then select Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.
- Copy and paste this Client ID, then select Submit:

- In the Institution Policies section:
- Under User Fields to Send, select: Role in Course, Name, Email Address
- Enable: Allow grade service access
- Enable: Allow Membership Service Access
- Click Submit. A new tool has been added to your Blackboard account.
Step 2: Create a Placement
Select the new tool, choose Manage placement. In this page, click on Create Placement. Make sure to input this step:
- Label: MathGPT.ai Textbook and Assignment Tool.
- Handle: mathgpt-content-tool
- Availability: Yes
- Type: Deep Linking content
- Target Link URI:
https://mathgpt-api.tutoruniverse.com/lti/blackboard/launch - Click on Submit. A new placement has been created.
FOR INSTRUCTORS
Add MathGPT to your Blackboard course
If you don’t have a MathGPT course yet: Create it first in MathGPT.ai
If you already have a MathGPT course: Skip the step above.
- In Blackboard, open your course(which is not connected to any MathGPT course) and go to the Course Content page.
- Click the + where you want to add the activity.
- Choose Content Market.
- Select MathGPT content tool.
- Authenticate MathGPT by using your MathGPT account (if required)
- Pick the MathGPT course and the item you want to add, then Save.
- Make the item visible to students (and set availability, due dates, and sections as needed).
Helpful tip
If MathGPT doesn’t appear in Content Market, contact your LMS admin to confirm the LTI is installed, approved, and available in your course.
